WPS TRAINING COURSES
Realistic, well thought out, and easy to understand. Tactics Instructor John Lovell strives to help students understand the ‘bigger picture’ so they are able to see where they are in their training and where they need to be. What sets John apart is his ability to break complex skills and tactics down into understandable and simple ‘bites’ that students can readily understand and follow. New classes added monthly.
This 1 day course lays the foundation that all future pistol training will lay on. Safety, range etiquette, clearing, loading, equipment, fundamentals of fire, drawstroke, clearing stoppages, common mistakes, and warrior mindset are the main subjects tackled in this essential course. Though this course is built for beginners, the subject matter and technique is designed to allow students to build realistic skills that can survive the test of stress and small time constraints.
This 1 day course begins with a review of safety protocols and an audit of each individual’s shooting fundamentals, and basic skill sets (draw stroke, reloads, etc). During this course, students will learn use of cover/concealment, concealed carry considerations, fighter mindset, and movement. Prior training is required to be eligible to attend this course.
This 1 day course is all about moving, shooting, and thinking under stress. Students should be expected to have already gained unconscious competency in their fundamentals of fire and basic skill sets. Topics covered include (but are not limited to): fighting from concealment, one-handed operation, movement, use of cover, integrating hand-to-hand combat, and integrating tactics in order to ‘fight smarter’.
This 1 day course lays the foundation that all future rifle training will rest on. Safety, range etiquette, weapon operation, accessories, fundamentals of fire, shooting/ready positions, rapid target acquisition, target transitions, clearing of stoppages, rapid fire, and warrior mindset are the main subjects tackled in this essential course. Though this course is built for beginners, the subject matter and technique is designed to allow students to build realistic skills that can survive the test of stress and small time constraints.
This 1 day course begins with a review of safety protocols and an audit of each individual’s shooting fundamentals. During this course, students will be introduced to movement, use of cover and/or concealment, alternate body positions, scenario based stress fires, fighter mindset, and more. This course requires prior training equivalent to ‘Rifle 1’.
LONG RANGE PATROL
This 2 day course teaches what is necessary, both logistically and tactically, to engage in a long range patrol in enemy occupied territory. With the expectation of a small amount of time in the classroom, students should expect to ‘learn by doing’, and come ready to work. Relevant topics of instruction and practical application include (but are not limited to): prepping for a patrol, introduction to land navigation, principles of patrolling, reconnaissance, basic military tactics, etc.
1 MAN CLEARING – WORKING IN & AROUND STRUCTURES
Here is one of the most under-appreciated courses because many think it’s simply something for SWAT teams and military folks. The reality is that every patrol cop answering a call, every civilian investigating a ‘bump in the night’, and really, every person who comes in harms way in or around any structure is engaging in room clearing. This is high-stakes chess. It is the unforgiving game of angles. Here, pistol / rifle skills graduate into something far more important: tactics. All military, law enforcement, and civilians are welcome to attend this 2 day course as long as they can legally possess a firearm and are US citizens. Students will learn timeless tactical principles, and combat proven deliberate clearing techniques which will enable them to spot the threats much earlier and avoid getting ambushed.
WARRIOR WEEKENDS – TRAINING RETREATS
This is more than training, it is an experience. This is a chance for a bunch of like-minded warrior poets to get together for 2 days of some serious training but also hang out around a bonfire, stay up late joking, and talking about life. For those kindred spirits out there who could use some bro-time, get some encouragement, talk about struggles, and talk about stuff that really matters.
Request a Public Course in Your Area
If you would like Warrior Poet Training, LLC to come to your area, you will need to help provide a good venue to email@example.com. The cost per student will be the same as other public courses (usually $263 per person). Private land is generally more preferable than public land as long as it can be legally reserved. We select venues based on the following criteria:
- The venue allows the instructor the freedom to control the range (calling it ‘cold’ or ‘hot’ at will), and perform skills required to win a gunfight such as drawing from concealment, shooting quickly, shooting and moving, shooting behind cover/concealment, transitioning targets, etc.
- The venue has low fees. We expect around $250 per day from public ranges, though some ranges charge no fee. We select venues in part based on what makes the most financial sense.
- The venue has the needed range equipment: target stands, dimensions no less than 25 meters long by 20 meters wide (slightly flexible), barricades for cover/concealment.
- The area the venue is located in is in high demand (we get regular requests for that area) and we feel confident we will be able to fill the class. If you have a group ready to sign up then it is more likely we will schedule training in your area.
Book a Private Course
All private courses are individually negotiated. Below is a general break-down that can give a general idea of what a private course may look like.
